Our Christmas tree hunt has begun…

xmastreehuntEvery year it is getting harder and harder to find a good real Christmas tree. I’m not sure why.. maybe weather changes… big storms sweeping through our area… who knows! Lucy is learning how to find the perfect tree, but on this day she was more interested in finding the perfect clover! That is pretty important too 🙂

Winter Storm: Athena…

Winter storm, Athena, barreled through New Jersey and the Northeast this week. More power outages, downed trees, winds, and this time SNOW.. about 7 inches to be exact. Its been a crazy 2 weeks here in NJ. Fingers crossed that this isn’t a preview of how rough our winter will be!

The upside… the snow was beautiful first thing in the morning 🙂

One last look at color…

Here in New Jersey, we’re bracing for hurricane Sandy to hit. So far things are quiet, but it soon won’t be! The anticipation is the worst part! Unfortunately, there are still so many beautiful leaves on the trees, that in a couple days will be gone… so here is one last look at some autumn color… stay safe everybody!

No longer ominous…

Hard to believe the sky went from grey and creepy to beautiful and vibrant! (This was taken the same night as the previous post…love watching how a sunset progresses!)

Stormy sunsets…

A stormy sunset in Wild Wood Crest, NJ. It was almost monochromatic, which I love just as much as the intense colorful sunsets. Something about this scene makes me think of Quint and Captain Brody taking the Orca out on a fishing trip! Something about the look of the boat.. ahh, one of my favorite movies!

Highlighted clouds…

Today is gloomy. Lucy and I ran a few quick errands and, luckily, made it home just before the big storm. Thunder and lightening galore! I’m enjoying watching the rain out my back windows, but fingers crossed the day ends with some clouds like these. An exclamation point to the end of the day!
